How to Store Food Long Term, Bucket Method

Hi Everyone,

This is another demonstration on how to store food long term in 5 gallon buckets.  I like to do this with dried beans, grain (wheat, barley mmmmm beer!) and rice.  If you do it right, it will last for 10 years at least and likely much longer.

Check it out!

The main enemies we have in food storage are:

1) Oxygen

2) Heat

3) Moisture (water)

4) Critters

If you use this method, and are smart about where you store this stuff, you can create a good stash of reserve food in very little time and for very low cost.

Note:   you can buy enough dry ice to evacuate 10 buckets for about $1.00 (check with your local supermarkets) and enough oxygen absorbing packets (specific to food use or use hand warmers, yep basically the same thing) for those 10 buckets for about $5.00.  By nature, the beans and grains are very cheap to begin with.

Here is a link where you can pick up the type of oxygen absorbing packets I like –> Oxygen Absorbers

To finish off, learn how to use this food in your everyday life!  I already have few videos where I show you a few things you can do:

Cook Dry Beans Fast

The Amazing Whirly-Pop

Grow Your Own Wheat Sprouts (Coming soon to a blog near you!)

It is easy to learn to store food for long term but the last thing you want is to need it and not know how to really use it.

Cheers!

Willie
