Making a Newspaper Log Using a Press

Check this video out. I know of a few ways to make old newspaper into a newspaper log,  nice fuel for the fire (and not just to start it). I will make videos in the future of some of the more basic ways.

This gizmo I picked up from one of my favorite gadget sites Kotulas.com is a very cool way to do it. The ‘logs’ take a while to dry but what a neat way to use old newspaper and junk mail! In our little patio fireplace two or three of these will burn quite nicely for 30-45 minutes.

Pick one up here –> Fire log maker

This is a great example of how to make through use of what you have at hand. Also these are LIGHT! What a great fuel to bring camping!

Update: I promised to do another video here ya go –> Simpler Newspaper Log

  • I adore the theme on this wordpress blog. Can you tell me where you can get it? Many thanks!

    • Hi There! Thanks for your positive comments! The theme is called ‘twenty eleven’ just google it and I’m sure you will be good! Thanks again!

  • How about getting 2 for price of one – shred and make the paper bricks from your junk mail by using the papermasher bags: a revolutionary new concept in document shredding and identity protection. It eliminates the actual shredding and gives consumers a time-saving and reusable option to traditional document destruction. Simply fill your Papermasher bag with your confidential documents and load the bag into your home washing machine. As the washer cycles, your information is mashed into an unreadable paper pulp.

    • This looks like a great idea. Maybe a can get one to review.

This is especially cool with the compression type logs.

      Thanks for your input!

This is a great site. Just discovered it tonight and have spent over an hour looking at videos. Nice relaxed presentation packed with very useful information.
The website address for the paper log maker is spelled wrong though. It is kotulas.com.
I have signed up for the email updates and look forward to hearing from you, Willie!

    • Hi Tony,

Thanks for your kind comments and pointing out my misspelling! It is fixed.

Thanks for registering! I look forward to more of your comments!

      Cheers!

I would turn it over and put it back inside the press in order to get a squared-off look to the top of the log. Make it look neater.
